Hi loves, how’s your snow day? To contrast all the glistening winter wonderland scenes on the gram today, here’s one from our photoshoot with @kkiliszek last year ✌️ ⠀ I can’t think of a better way to spend a evening than sitting around a table with best pals, sharing good food and conversation. ⠀ ⠀ Our ethos @lulubelltents is to create magical spaces outdoors for our guests. Sure, Indy was crying - she needed feeding after the journey. Morris was darting around the pub - he has the energy of a pup on prozac, and we had more luggage than your typical weekend guest - long gone are the days of travelling lightly. ⠀ ⠀ I thought about this afterwards. I hadn’t considered us to brave. We were just doing it. On reflection i think naive might have been a better word for it. A bit of naivety can go a long way. I wouldn’t have started Lulubells if I known how dull tax returns are! And if I’d known I’d spend the entirety of the first night away in months listening to the soundtrack of Morris snoring, Indy farting, snorting and making what can only be described as dolphin sounds, I would have missed out on all the blissful moments in-between.⠀ ⠀ I’m hoping to spend summer weekends under canvas with her - regular campers / festival goers, any advice on taking babes with you? ⠀ ⠀ #9weeks⠀ #newborn⠀ #stillswithstories⠀ #nestandsurvive⠀ #momentsofmine ⠀ #slowliving ⠀ #bedroominspo⠀ #newmum⠀ #fourthtrimesta ⠀ #thesincerestoryteller⠀ #honestparenting ⠀ #oxford ⠀ #artistresidency ⠀ #travellingwithanewborn ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Happy winter solstice! It may look serene here but what you can’t see or hear (thankfully!) is Tristan and I dancing and singing to DJ Yoda’s festive mix on @bbcradio6 in an attempt to rock Indy to sleep. I thought all babes napped in their Moses basket without crying - who knew 😂 Parenthood. What can I say. 5 weeks in and I’ve learnt that having a good sense of humour goes a long way in this game! I’m laughing my way through the sleep deprivation, India-moon and the nappy of doom, as well as the MANY very real breastfeeding challenges. I’m still in total awe of the female body and what it can do. Pregnancy, labour and nursing. Mind officially blown. Nature is magnificent and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next (just as long as it doesn’t involve mastitis!) Life certainly looks a lot different this year, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Our Scorpio babe arrived Friday 16th November at 2.16am weighing 7.2 pounds. We are all doing really well, the Midwife’s at both Gloucester and Stroud are absolute hero’s. They have given us the best possible start on this adventure together. Tristan and I are totally in love with this little lady, lapping up every moment of this magical, and bonkers time getting to know one another. Morris is still undecided, but seems to be slowly coming around to her 😂🐶 We’ll be snuggled up on the sofa for the foreseeable.. Patiently waiting for moonbeam (that’s what we call bump) to arrive. I’m starting to think this is the first lesson in parenthood. Patience, that is. I have to trust that she has a plan and will be here when she is ready. I just wish I knew the plan too! Pregnancy has taught me to enjoy and live the process. I have a tendency to whirl around in a mad haze focusing solely on the end result. Looking ahead to a place with anticipation. Sure, it’s good to know where things are heading, but there’s great pleasure in the process and the path we take to get there. I have ideas floating around for 2019 season and I’m going to enjoy developing them. But for now it’s all about the homestead and famalam. Before I fully immerse myself in my new role. We have one more set up to do. Sure, the heatwave helped, although putting that aside, the business I started that began with my husband and I travelling around in our estate car to pitch a single tent or two, has evolved into a sustainable business with a collection of 35 tents, enough furnishings to sleep a small army and a core crew of 4 who have been working with us steadily throughout the summer. I sometimes wonder how and why I became a “tent lady” and I recently realised that it’s because of all the brilliant people I work with along the way. They keep me inspired. Working together with our brides, getting to know venue owners and spending long van journeys with the crew chatting about everything from life’s big questions, to the minutiae of everyday living. Some may call it nosey, but I like to think of it as taking an interest 😂😂 The purpose of Lulubells is to create beautiful spaces for people to gather and connect.
